Endoplasmatic reticulum

The endoplasmic reticulum is a cell organelle, which is as a tube-like, labyrinthine structure located in the cytoplasm. It mainly fulfils the synthesis and storage functions in the cell.

One distinguishes rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) covered by ribosomes from the "naked" smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER).
